Bless Their Little Hearts, is a powerful portrait of working-class life in an African American family living in the Watts neighbourhood of Los Angeles.

Billy Woodberry’s 1983 drama remains relevant as it captures the struggles caused by a combination of social and economic instability alongside racial inequality in 1980s America. Shot in Black and White by celebrated filmmaker Charles Burnett, Bless Their Little Hearts, shows an everyday beauty by depicting the lives of real people.

Director, Woodberry is linked to the LA Rebellion movement, a group of African-America filmmakers who between 1967 and 1989 would create several films aimed at expanding visual representations of Black experiences, having met and studied at UCLA.

This film has been rated as 18+
