Langthorne Park, Friday 18 September from 7pm
Join Apne Film Club & Stow Film Lounge for our socially distant outdoor screening of the brilliant Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) in Langthorne Park on the 18th of September. Feel free to bring your own food and drink to the screening.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan will take you on a journey through every emotion, from bitter sadness to blissful hope – in a current space of high tension and anxiety in society, it is the perfect film to come and connect with each other (socially distanced of course!) and escape into the songs, drama and tension of one of the best Bollywood blockbusters of the last decade!
We at the Apne Film Club are dedicated to reviving the Asian cinema clubs that were found across the UK in the 60’s and 70’s where a hall or cinema was hired, reels were brought in and everyone would come together to spend a day watching classic or new Indian cinema. With samosas and chai flowing, and plenty of audience interaction throughout the picture, it was as much a space to build community and connect to a sense of home as it was to just simply watch a film. In 2019 we hosted our first screening as part of LLF 2019 with a packed screening of the absolute 1957 classic, Guru Dutt’s ‘Pyaasa’ – it was full of viewers of all ages and drew jeers, tears and cheers at all the right moments.
