Cat People with Barbican Young Programmers

Event date

Cat People (1942) Jacques Tourneur. PG

French actress Simone Simon stars in this film about a Serbian émigré to America who believes she is haunted by a curse passed down through generations. The curse is triggered when she stumbles into the man of her dreams. Director Jacques Tourneur gives us a masterclass in low budget filmmaking as he produces this classic horror that manoeuvres light and shadow to create an atmosphere laden with unseen and unspoken tension.

Join the Barbican Young Programmers to watch this classic horror on BBC iPlayer followed by a Zoom discussion about why they chose it and their experiences as young programmers producing Chronic Youth 2020.
