Mapped Memories celebrates the memories of women from Waltham Forest who are connected to the community of Leytonstone. Through dance and poetry these personal stories will be shared with festival-goers, exploring what it means to be part of a wonderful neighbourhood whilst championing the individuals and creativity within the local area.

Popping up at several venues across Leytonstone these performances are not to be missed by anyone who enjoys the arts and wants to find out more about the people who make up their community.

Workshop

Don’t miss the opportunity to travel from the dance halls of yesterday to the present with dance-on-screen duo Kabecca Films, who will be leading a dance workshop for all abilities. Based on movement from their highly-commended documentary ‘Twenty, Forty, Sixty’, which tells a sixty-year-old woman’s life story through dance, this session will evoke memories for those of a similar generation and introduce others to new movement. The pair’s work is focused on celebrating the positive impact that dance has on mental and physical wellbeing whilst increasing representation of and creating platforms for sixty-plus women’s stories to be heard. ‘Twenty, Forty, Sixty’ will be screened. This workshop is open to anyone who would like to get involved! All information here

If you can't make it there is still an opportunity to hear the audio recording of Angela's memory and take part in a fun, open to all short dance movement activity as part of Women Over Fifty Film Festival's 'Best of The Fest' on Wednesday 15th of September at 3pm. This activity responds to a film shared within the WOFFF programme and no dance experience is needed to participate. Book your free ticket here
